Paul's View In Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

This is one of dozens of photos I have taken from the window or deck of my apartment, which faces the north shore. I love the view no matter what time of year or day. In the summer I like to sit out on the deck or lay in the hammock sipping beer and taking it in. My favourite time is evening, when the setting sun highlights all the folds in the mountains.

Those orange things towering over their surroundings are container cranes at the port. Vancouver is a very busy port and there are terminals scattered all around the area. I can sometimes see the tops of ships, including cruise ships, moving behind the buildings. The float planes coming and going in the harbour are an interesting diversion, too. They are often the best way to reach the small towns of the north and interior. You can also take them from the waterfront downtown (out of frame to the left) to downtown Victoria over on Vancouver Island.

Not a bad view for a one bedroom apartment in east Van, just a mile or two from downtown.
